The New Jersey Devils have signed pending unrestricted free agent goaltender Jake Allen to a five-year, $9 million contract on Tuesday, according to TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun. 

The deal carries an average annual value of $1.8 million. 

Allen, 34, went 13-16-1 last season with the New Jersey Devils with a 2.66 goals-against average and .908 save percentage while backing up netminder Jacob Markstrom. He did not appear in the playoffs as the Devils were eliminated by the Carolina Hurricanes in the first round.

The 6-foot-2 netminder is coming off a two-year, $7.7 million contract that carried an annual cap hit of $3.85 million.

Drafted 34th overall by the St. Louis Blues in 2008, Allen has a career 208-184-43 record with a 2.76 GAA and .908 save percentage split between the Blues, Montreal Canadiens and Devils.

Allen helped the Blues win their first Stanley Cup in franchise history in 2019 while backing up starting netminder Jordan Binnington.

 

Devils add Brown

The Devils have signed unrestricted free agent forward Connor Brown to a four-year contract with an AAV of $3 million, according to TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston. 

Brown, 31, recorded 13 goals and 30 points in 82 games with the Edmonton Oilers last season. He added five goals and nine points in 20 playoff games before his team was eliminated in the Stanley Cup Final.

The 6-foot winger is coming off a one-year, $1 million contract.

Drafted 156th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2012, Brown has 107 goals and 258 points in 601 career games split between the Maple Leafs, Ottawa Senators, Washington Capitals, and Oilers.

The Toronto native represented Canada at the 2021 World Championship, taking home a gold medal.

 

Dadonov signs one-year deal

Forward Evgenii Dadonov has signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Devils on Tuesday. 

The deal includes earnable performance bonuses. 

Dadonov, 36, recorded 20 goals and 40 points with the Dallas Stars last season. He added a goal and four points in 16 playoff games before his team was eliminated by the Edmonton Oilers in the Western Conference Final.

The 5-foot-11 winger is coming off a two-year, $4.5 million contract that carried an annual cap hit of $2.25 million.

Drafted 71st overall by the Florida Panthers in 2007, Dadonov has 163 goals and 351 points in 617 career games split between the Panthers, Ottawa Senators, Vegas Golden Knights, Montreal Canadiens, and Stars.

The Chelyabinsk, Russia native represented his country six times at the World Championship, winning gold in 2014, silver in 2015 and three bronze medals in 2016, 2017, and 2019.
