Habs send Mailloux to Blues for Bolduc; sign G Kahkonen
The Montreal Canadiens traded defenceman Logan Mailloux to the St. Louis Blues for forward Zack Bolduc on Tuesday before NHL free agency opened.
BROSSARD - The Montreal Canadiens traded defenceman Logan Mailloux to the St. Louis Blues for forward Zack Bolduc on Tuesday before NHL free agency opened.
Mailloux produced 12 goals and 21 assists in 63 games with the American Hockey League's Laval Rocket last season.
The 22-year-old right-shot blueliner added two goals and two assists in seven games with the Canadiens in the NHL.
Bolduc had 19 goals and 17 assists in 72 games with the Blues last season.
The 22-year-old from Trois-Rivières, Que., added one assist in seven playoff games.
Both players are entering the final season of their entry-level contracts.
Habs sign Kahkonen, Blais
The Canadiens made other moves Tuesday, signing goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen and forward Sammy Blais to one-year deals.
TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston reports Kahkonen's deal is for $1.15 million, while Blais will receives $775,000.
The 28-year-old appeared in one game with the Colorado Avalanche last season. He also played in a combined 36 AHL games with three different teams.
He also played in 18 playoff games with the Charlotte Checkers, turning in a 2.18 goals-against average with a .906 save percentage.
Blais, 29, did not play in the NHL last season after spending his first seven seasons with the St. Louis Blues and New York Rangers.
Blais had 14 goals and 40 points in 51 games last season for the Abbotsford Canucks.
Montreal also added forward Alex Belzile and defenseman Nate Clurman on one-year, two-way deals.
